We visited the ROM(ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM) as part of our Training. You can’t imagine what a very large museum it is. It has a lot of wonderful history and exhibitions. When I went there were many children that were doing a tour. Because it was a summer camp. It is popular that students go for a summer school in Ontario. The school term is usually 14 days(two weeks). After one term finished, you can do another one. Children learn a lot of things that doesn’t appearance in the text books. They can feel, touch, smell, look, listen and sometimes experience. And they are instructed to create some handwork. They all love it. There are so many groups there, such as “Animal Adventures”, “Egyptomania” and so on. We joined a group of six year olds and had an Egyptomania lesson with them together. In this program, they combine the magic of the Nile with your own creativity and brush away the sands of time in ancient Egypt. Unravel the mysteries of pyramids and sphinxes and discover how these fascinating people lived and died thousands of years ago. They assemble an Egyptian outfit, mould a magical shawabti, and find out first-hand why pyramid building is no easy task. In the lesson we sat on the floor into a big circle, do some games, listened to the Egyptian history story and had a look at the Egyptian houses, tools, jewelries, mummies and so on. Also we entered a tomb and answered a lot of questions from children. Kids were well behaved and brave questioned. There was a little girl called Nora who’s a keener impressed me a lot. And there were two lovely twin brothers, one’s named David and the other Daniel. They were cute. We were luck, eh?

It was so big that we can’t finish all the galleries. I especially enjoyed the animal

gallery and mining gallery. There were so many vivid specimens and sparkle

jewels there that I was exhausted taking photos. What a pity that we have only half

a day to stay. It was a wonderful museum to go with a kid. I hope I can take my

son here one day.
